My discovery of the summer was lemon verbena (Aloysia citrodora). I got it as a “lemon bush” from a local discounter and love the look, the scent, and the taste. It’s lemony and fresh.
It was featured as a cocktail herb and Lemon Verbena Gimlet seems to be quite trendy.
My favorite summer thirst quencher is just tap water with a sprig of Nana mint, one from the Verbena bush, and a dash of lime juice. Refreshing and wonderful.
My next project will be a herb syrup with lemon verbena so I can have this taste as cool or hot drink all year long – I will keep you updated.
